MEAC Announces Weekly Softball Honors

NORFOLK, Va., Mar. 9, 2026 – Norfolk State junior Maddy Morris has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Player of the Week, while teammate Samantha Stevenson earned Rookie of the Week honors. Morgan State’s Millie Cousins was recognized as the Pitcher of the Week

Morris (Jr, R/R, Hampton, Va.) hit .333 (5-for-15) with four runs scored and six RBI, collecting hits in four consecutive games during the Spartan Round-Up. She added a home run and three walks, finishing the weekend with a .444 on-base percentage. 

Stevenson (Fr., R/R, Tustin Calif.) pitched 9.2 innings over three games, posting a 0.72 ERA while allowing just three earned runs and striking out five. 

Cousins (Jr., P, Sydney Australia) allowed two runs on six hits over 6.1 innings against UMBC. The junior also issued four walks while limiting their offense to a .273 batting average.

  • Dani Brown (UMES) tossed a complete game against Holy Cross, allowing three earned runs on seven hits while striking out four.  
  • Jaiden Henderson (NSU) recorded nine strikeouts over 9.1 innings on the week. 
  • Lola Meyer (UMES) recorded three doubles, two RBI, and three runs scored, recording two multi-hit games during the week. 
  • Hunter Newman (MSU) batted .375 with a home run, RBI, and a run scored in Morgan State’s doubleheader against UMBC.  
  • Skylar Skinner (UMES) recorded one double, one RBI, one run scored, and two stolen bases for the Hawks.
