MEAC Issues Public Reprimand and Fine to Howard Softball Head Coach Tori Tyson General | 3/5/2026 4:34:16 PM The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference has issued a public reprimand to Howard University head softball coach Tori Tyson and assessed a $1,500 institutional fine to Howard University following comments made on social media regarding the conference’s Player of the Week recognition. The conference determined that the comments were inconsistent with the standards of sportsmanship and professional conduct expected of coaches representing MEAC member institutions. The MEAC holds its coaches, student-athletes, and athletic administrators to the highest standards of leadership and professionalism. The conference does not condone unsportsmanlike behavior from any representative of its member institutions, particularly when such actions result in the public criticism or humiliation of a student-athlete. Coaches serve as educators and leaders within the intercollegiate athletics environment, and their conduct must reflect the values of respect, integrity, and accountability that define the conference and its member institutions. The MEAC considers this matter closed and will have no further comment.
