Howard graduate guard Bryce Harris has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Year, the conference announced Tuesday evening at the fourth annual MEAC BBT Awards presented by Wells Fargo, held at Chrysler Hall.

All awards were voted on by the league’s head coaches and sports information directors.

Howard teammate Cedric Taylor III earned both Defensive Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year honors, while Elijah Jamison of Norfolk State was selected as Sixth Player of the Year. Noah Treadwell of South Carolina State was named Rookie of the Year, and Morgan State head coach Kevin Broadus earned MEAC Coach of the Year honors.

Harris currently leads the MEAC in scoring (17.5 ppg) and is tied first in rebounding (6.7 rpg), while also ranking among the national leaders in free throws made (40th) and free throw attempts (42nd). He earned MEAC Player of the Week honors four times this season and was named Defensive Player of the Wekk three times, highlighting his all-around impact for the Bison.

Taylor also delivered an outstanding season for Howard, earning four MEAC Player of the Week honors, including three consecutive selections in February, along with one Defensive Player of the Week award. He is averaging  17.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game, while also contributing 67 assists, 30 steals, and 27 blocks. Taylor currently ranks second in the MEAC in scoring and is tied for first in rebounding.

Jamison played a key role off the bench for Norfolk State, ranking sixth in the MEAC in scoring with 14.3 points per game while averaging 3.0 assists per contest (90 total), the ninth-best mark in the conference this season. He shot 79.7 percent from the free-throw line and averaged 27.5 minutes per game, scoring in double figures 24 times, including three 20-point performances. Jamison earned his only MEAC Player of the Week honor this season after a 30-point performance against Jackson State.

Broadus guided Morgan State to a 14-15 overall record and a 10-4 mark in conference play, securing the No. 2 seed entering the MEAC Basketball Tournament. In his seventh season at the helm, Broadus becomes the first Morgan State coach to earn MEAC Coach of the Year honors since 2009. Under his leadership, the Bears orchestrated an impressive turnaround after starting the season 3-12, going on to win 10 of their final 12 games, including a six-game winning streak to close the regular season.
