NORFOLK, Va. – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) football season enters conference play this week, with all six teams in action across three matchups.
North Carolina Central visits Delaware State on Friday, Oct. 23, before Norfolk State travels to South Carolina State and Howard faces Morgan State on Saturday, Oct. 24.

MEAC Football Notes
Against Other FCS Conferences
The MEAC has compiled a 14-12 record against other FCS conferences this season, highlighted by a 7-3 mark against the CAA and a 3-1 mark against the SWAC.
Getting After the Quarterback
Three MEAC programs rank in the top 20 nationally in sacks per game: South Carolina State is fifth (3.14), while Morgan State (2.86) and Norfolk State (2.43) rank seventh and 16th, respectively.
Complimentary Football
South Carolina State leads the country in scoring offense (43.6 points per game), while also ranking first nationally in total defense, allowing just 241.6 yards per game.
Opportunistic Defense
North Carolina Central and Norfolk State are tied for third nationally with 16 turnovers forced this season.
MEAC in the Rankings
South Carolina State climbed to No. 3 in this week’s Black College Football Poll, followed by Morgan State at No. 4 and Delaware State at No. 5.
Norfolk State also earned a top-10 ranking at No. 9, while Howard received votes.

- Howard’s Homecoming Win
- Howard rushed for 201 yards and four touchdowns to defeat Morehouse 31-17 on Saturday at Greene Stadium. Eden James led the Bison with 120 rushing yards and a touchdown on 13 carries, including a 61-yard scoring run in the third quarter. Ja’Shawn Scroggins added 42 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while Travis Kerney scored on a fourth-quarter run. Howard scored 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to pull away and improve to 3-4 on the season.
