NORFOLK, Va., Jan. 28, 2026-- North Carolina Central sophomore Zion Amadi was selected as Men's Track Athlete of the Week while
Howard graduate student Sean Wray earned Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors.
Amadi (So., Burlington, NC.) won both the 200m and 400m at the Liberty Open while setting new school marks and claiming the top spot in the MEAC for both events. In the 200m, Amadi clocked a time of 21.01 seconds before following with 47.20 in the 400m. The 47.20 run moved him from third to second in NCCU history, just behind Gordon Lewis’ 2019 record of 47.11.
Wray (Gs., Stafford, VA) earned third place in the triple jump at the 2026 Penn 10 Elite with a leap of 14.94 meters, ranking second in the MEAC this season.
Other Top Performers
- Maxim Copeland (MSU) earned silver in the 400 meters at the VMI Invitational with a season-best 48.79.
- Marian Drazan (DSU) won the mile at the Liberty Open while breaking the DSU indoor school record with a time of 4:12.53.
- Christopher Johnson (DSU) placed third in the shot put at the Liberty Open with a toss of 16.21 meters.
- Khamani Johnson (NCCU) finished second in the shot put at the Liberty Open with a 12.58-meter throw.
- Andie Kollie (UMES) claimed gold in the 60-meter dash at the VMI Invitational with a time of 6.70 seconds.
- Jonylson Prucien (UMES) recorded a personal-best 13.80 meters in the triple jump to finish fifth at the VMI Invitational.
- Isaac Rankin (MSU) captured first place in the high jump at the VMI Invitational after clearing 2.00 meters.
- Ashton Thomas (HOW) finished seventh in the 800 meters while setting a school record of 1:51.07.
