HARRISONBURG, VA --The Delaware State volleyball team fell to the UT Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros in straight sets (23-25, 17-25, 14-25) Sunday at JMU Convocation Center.
The non-conference loss moved Delaware State to 4-10 on the season.
Emma Patmon finished with 12 kills on the day to lead the Hornets offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .429. got 11 digs from Gerren Tomlin to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Hornets dropped the first set 25-23 in spite of a strong performance on the attacking end. Delaware State registered a .364 attack percentage with 16 kills in the set loss.
SET 2 | Delaware State then lost set two 25-17 to fall behind in the match two sets to none. The Hornets dropped the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before dropping the set.
SET 3 | Delaware State couldn't prolong the match and lost in set number three. The Hornets dropped a tough set 25-14. Delaware State trailed by as many as 12 points as UT Rio Grande Valley grabbed the advantage for good at 2-1 in a set that was tied up five times before the Vaqueros took over the lead.

Delaware State will return to action on Friday, September 26 when they open up conference play on the road. The Hornets will take on the eagle of North Carolina Central. The first serve are scheduled for 6 p.m.
