Bison open indoor season on a high note

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. & BOSTON (December 6, 2025) – Howard University men's track & field team opened its indoor season with a victory Friday (Dec. 5) at the 2025 HBCU & Ivy Challenge, hosted by Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass.
 
Saturday (Dec. 6), HU stayed in the area and competed in the Harvard Classic, hosted by the Crimson, and the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, hosted by Boston University in Beantown (Boston).
 
HBCU & IVY CHALLENGE
 
In the field, freshman Roman Mills (Washington) and graduate Sean Wray (Stafford, Va.) took gold and silver, respectively, in the long jump.
 
Junior Martin Ohakah (Glen Burnie, Md.) won the triple jump after leaping 14.40 meters (47'2").
 
DMV native sophomore Drew Dillard (Silver Spring, Md.) finished first in the high jump, bouncing 2.07 meters (6'8").
 
On the track, Dillard and senior Jorim Bangue (Yaounde, Cameroon) took second (7.98) and third (8.00), respectively, in the 60-meter hurdles.
 
Dillard, graduate Abraham Evans (Virginia Beach, Va.) and newcomers Armond Boulware (Chicago) and Jabari Dillard (Cross Hill, S.C.) represented Bison Nation in the 4x400 relay, earning third overall (3:34.11).
 
Other notable performance included senior Dylan Gaines (Houston) grabbing first in the 200-meter dash (21.52) and third in the 60-meter dash (6.88).
 
HARVARD CLASSIC
 
On the track, Gaines, junior Emerson McKindra (Linden, N.J.) and sophomore Jayvain Greene (Gainsville, Fla.) placed first (33.33), second (34.34) and third (35.21), respectively, in the 300-meter dash.
 
D. Dillard claimed gold in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking in at 8.01.
 
In the field, Mills and Wray finished first (7.01 meters) and second (6.96 meters), respectively, in the long jump.
 
BU SHARON COLYEAR-DANVILLE SEASON OPENER
 
Senior Kobe Hutson (Bridgetown, Barbados) took fourth overall in the 600-meter run with a 1:21.04 mark.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
On Dec. 13, HU returns to the Northeast for the Seahawk Shootout, hosted by Wagner College.
