BOSTON (December 18, 2025) – CollegeInsider.com revealed its 'Early Season Watch List' for the 2025-26 Lou Henson award where Howard University graduate guard
Bryce Harris (Brentwood, N.Y.) made the cut. The announcement came Thursday afternoon.
The prestigious award is presented annually to the top player in mid-major college basketball and honors the former Illinois and New Mexico State head coach, who won 775 games in 41 seasons. Henson is one of only 11 coaches to take two different schools to the NCAA Final Four. His teams have made 19 NCAA appearances and four NIT appearances.
Before the season, Harris made the preseason All-MEAC First Team. This week, the New York product won MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Player of the Week and HBCU All-Stars Player of the Week.
Currently, Harris leads the MEAC in scoring (19.9 ppg) and rebounding (6.8 rpg).
The recipient of the annual award is determined by a 10-member voting committee, which consists of current and former head coaches, along with two senior staff members of collegeinsider.com.
The 2026 award will be announced in Indianapolis, site of the men's NCAA Division I Basketball Championship.
Howard travels to Wilmington, N.C., to take on the Seahawks of UNCW Saturday (Dec. 20) at 2 p.m.
