Delaware State’s Tomlin Earn Top Weekly Honors

NORFOLK, Va., October 20 – Delaware State's Gerrin Tomlin has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the league announced today. Coppin State's Cherisse Atilano earned Rookie of the Week honors. Morgan State's Isabelle Brown was recognized as Setter of the Week, while teammate Tameary Wardlaw was named Defensive Player of the Week.   

Tomlin (DSU, Jr., OH, Statesville, Nc.) powered the Hornets' attack with 30 kills over two matches, including a dominant 19-kill, .500 hitting performance in a sweep of UMES. She added nine digs in that win and followed with 11 kills and three digs in the loss to Morgan State. 

Atilano (CSU, Fr., OH, Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) delivered a breakout performance in Coppin State's matchup at Morgan State, recording a double-double with 16 kills  and 13 digs on .419 hitting, en route to the Eagles' 3–1 road win. 

Brown (MSU, Fr., S, Avon, Ind.) averaged 8.1 assists per set over two matches this week, totaling 57 assists, 17 digs, four kills, three blocks, and three aces in a 1-1 week for the Bears. She posted 28 assists, eight digs, three kills, and one ace in a loss to Coppin State and followed with 29 assists, nine digs, one kill, and two blocks in a three-set win over Delaware State. 

Wardlaw (MSU, Fr., L, Sunrise, Fla.) totaled 30 digs over two matches, highlighted by a season-high 18 digs against Coppin State and 12 digs with an ace in a sweep of Delaware State, anchoring the Bears' defense in a 1-1 week. 
 
Other Top Performers    
  • Kayden Cupid (CSU) anchored the Eagles front line with eight kills, three solo blocks and added three digs, helping Coppin State defeat Morgan State in four sets. 
  • Jala Dixon (NSU) registered four blocks, including one solo and three assists, along with four kills and four digs in a road loss against Howard. 
  • Gabrielle Gilbert (NSU) led Norfolk State with 11 kills on .257 hitting, while adding seven digs, two aces, and two blocks in a matchup against Howard. 
  • Kamren Harper (NCCU) totaled 11 digs to go along with a match-high 15 kills in a sweep of South Carolina State, averaging 3.67 digs per set. 
  • Alexys James (HU) posted seven kills, adding a block assist and two digs to help the Bison to a 3–0 sweep of Norfolk State. 
  • Rya McKinnon (HU) paced the Bison with 15 kills on a .306 percentage and added five digs, three assists, and two aces in the 3-0 sweep over Norfolk State. 
  • Mary Nahinu (NSU) anchored the Spartans' defense with a team-high 10 digs against Howard, while also adding three assists and an ace. 
  • Manuela Cripa Nasser (NCCU) contributed 32 assists and five digs in the win over South Carolina State. 
  • Hanna Nemeth (MSU) hit .354 for the week, highlighted by a .542 performance with 14 kills in a sweep of Delaware State. Nemath totaled 22 kills, four assists, and an ace across a 1-1 week. 
  • Azul Pilahg (CSU) totaled 23 assists, seven digs, and two aces in the 1-0 week for the Eagles. 
  • Leah Reeves (HU) recorded 39 assists, two aces, two blocks, and eight digs, marking her 14th 30+ assist game this season. 
  • Allyson Rouse (NCCU) was efficient at the net in NCCU's sweep of South Carolina State, hitting .333 with seven kills, one assist and three digs. 
  • Claire Simpson (HU) controlled the back row for the Bison with 17 digs, an ace, and four assists in a 3-0 win over Norfolk State, posting 5.67 digs per set. 
  • TaKenya Stafford (CSU) delivered a complete performance with a match-high 18 kills, 14 digs, and three aces in Coppin State's four-set win over Morgan State, leading all players in both kills and digs. 
  • Mary Nahinu (NSU) led the Spartans in digs at S.C. State with 15 and added eight more at NCCU, along with one kill and one assist. 
  • Allyson Rouse (NCCU) posted 13 kills, eight digs, and four blocks while hitting efficiently over two matches.
