NORFOLK, Va., Dec. 18, 2018—Malik Gantz of North Carolina A&T State was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced today.
Howard’s Andre Toure was named Rookie of the Week, while
Cletrell Pope of Bethune-Cookman is the Defensive Player of the Week.
Gantz (6-3, G, Sr., Harrisburg, Pa.) helped the Aggies secure a 78-76 win over Tennessee State, shooting 73 percent from the floor (11-for-15), and 50 percent from beyond the arc (2-for-4), scoring a career-high 27 points. He also grabbed five rebounds, had three steals and netted 3-of-5 attempts from the charity stripe in 33 minutes of play.
Toure (6-8, F, Fr., Paris, France) scored 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting for the Bison, while also grabbing five rebounds and dishing out three assists, while also getting one steal during 25 minutes of play, during the contest against Fordham. He also grabbed seven boards and blocked two shots against George Washington.
Pope (6-9, F, Gr., Palm Beach, Fla.) had a double-double for the Wildcats against Jacksonville, scoring 18 points while also grabbing 19 rebounds – 10 of which came on the defensive end. He also blocked three shots and nabbed a pair of steals in the contest.

D.J. Jones (FAMU) had 10 points on 5-of-11 shooting, along with one assist, two steals and four rebounds at Utah.
M.J. Randolph (FAMU) scored eight points on 4-for-6 shooting, while grabbing four rebounds with one assist and one steal at Utah.
Justin Ravenel (FAMU) scored 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting, connecting 5-of-6 from 3-point range, while also dishing out two assists and one steal at Utah.
Qua Copeland (NCAT) scored 25 points on 59 percent shooting from the floor, shooting 50 percent from behind the arc against Tennessee State.
Jordan Butler (NSU) recorded his 13th career double-digit rebounding game, grabbing 10 boards against Rider.
Nic Thomas (NSU) averaged 17 points in two games on 9-for-25 shooting, while grabbing four rebounds, and went 10-for-11 from the charity stripe.
Damani Applewhite (SCSU) averaged 21.5 points in a two-game stint, shooting 55 percent from the field, while averaging 6.0 rebounds.
