MEAC Announces Weekly Men's Basketball Honors

NORFOLK, Va., Nov. 13, 2018 - Howard’s Chad Lott and Florida A&M’s Justin Ravenel have been selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Co-Men's Basketball Players of the Week, the conference announced today. Savannah State’s Collins Joseph was named Rookie of the Week while Jordan Butler of Norfolk State and Andre Toure were named Co-Defensive Players of the Week.

Ravenel averaged 15 points as Florida A&M finished the week with a pair of wins. He also shot 69 percent from the field, 75 percent from three-point range and 85 percent from the free throw line. The senior scored nine points in the win over Jacksonville before pouring a game-high 21 points on 7-of-8 shooting versus Tuskegee.

Lott helped lead Howard to a 2-0 mark as he averaged 20 points, 6.5 rebounds, four assists and a steal. He shot 58 percent from the field and 67 percent from beyond the arc while scoring 27 points in his Howard debut on Nov. 7 and 13 points several days later.

Joseph was the Tigers’ scoring leader in two of their first three contests last week. He scored 20 points in his collegiate debut at Texas A&M and 19 points versus Middle Georgia. Collins finished the three games with averages of 14 points, 2.5 steals, two rebounds and 3.5 assists.

Butler led the MEAC with eight blocks in his first three games while also averaging 5.3 rebounds. He was Norfolk State’s rebounding leader in two of its first three contests while blocking four shots versus Mid-Atlantic Christian and three against Clarion.

Toure averaged five rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 steals in his Howard debut. He blocked three shots and grabbed six rebounds (four offensive) in his collegiate debut while recording two steals and four rebounds in his second contest.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Isaiah Bailey (Bethune-Cookman)
led B-CU in scoring with 17 points per games while also averaging two steals in two contests.

Dejuan Clayton (Coppin State) ranked second on the team in scoring (10 ppg) while averaging 2.5 rebounds.

Cedric Council (Coppin State) averaged 4.5 points, three rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 blocks in two games.

Raasean Davis (North Carolina Central) scored a team-high 14 points with four rebounds on 5-for-9 shooting at No. 22 Clemson. Also collected a block in 32 minutes of play.

Zacarry Douglas (North Carolina Central) earned his first-career double-double at NCCU with 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds at No. 22 Clemson. Also notched a steal over a game-high 35 minutes.

C.J. Kelly (Norfolk State) led NSU in scoring against Mid-Atlantic Christian with 21 points. He also shot 8-of-9 from the field and became one of just seven players in NSU's Division I history to shoot that well with at least seven makes.
 
Cletrell Pope (Bethune-Cookman) averaged eight points, 7.5 rebounds, one block and one steal in two games.

M.J. Randolph (Florida A&M) averaged eight points, three rebounds and two steals in a pair of wins for the Rattlers.

Jahlin Smith (Savannah State) led SSU with a team-high 20 points at Georgia while grabbing a team-high 12 rebounds versus Middle Georgia.

Nic Thomas (Norfolk State) led the Spartans in scoring against Clarion (19) and Michigan (9). He also had a career-high three steals against Mid-Atlantic Christian.

Ibn Williams (Coppin State) averaged 7.5 points in games at Wisconsin and at Dayton. Also dished out a team-high three assists at Wisconsin.
