Savannah State senior Tiyonda Davis was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced today. Howard’s Sarah Edmond earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Davis and Norfolk State junior Kayla Roberts were named Defensive Co-Players of the Week.
Davis (C, 6-4, Sr., Athens, Ga.) averaged 14.5 points, 12.0 rebounds and 5.5 blocks this past week in helping the Lady Tigers win games over Maryland Eastern Shore and Hampton. She had double-doubles in both games, extending her current streak to four, and Davis was a combined 12-for-17 (70.6 percent) from the floor. She had 13 points and 12 rebounds against MDES, before scoring 16 points, grabbing 12 boards and blocking eight shots against Hampton.
Edmond (G, 5-9, Fr., Freeport, N.Y.) went 5-for-8 from the floor against South Carolina State, scoring 13 points while also dishing out three assists and recording a steal. For the week, Edmond averaged 8.0 points and 2.5 assists per game, and in the South Carolina State game, she went 3-for-4 from behind the arc.
Roberts (F, 6-1, Jr., Miami, Fla.) averaged 8.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocks per game this past week. She pulled down 10 rebounds in the Spartans’ win over North Carolina A&T State, while also blocking eight shots and grabbing a pair of steals. She also had two steals and seven rebounds against South Carolina State, and Roberts recorded a double-double against the Lady Aggies.

Kendra Cooper (B-CU) scored 15 points and dished out six assists in the Lady Wildcats’ win over Delaware State.
Kailyn Williams (B-CU) recorded a double-double against Delaware State, scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds – while also blocking four shots and dishing out three assists.
Genesis Lucas (CSU) averaged 16.5 points per game this past week, dropping 20 while grabbing six rebounds and dishing out eight assists in a win over Maryland Eastern Shore.
NaJai Pollard (DSU) averaged 18.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in three games this past week, recording double-doubles against North Carolina A&T State (14 points, 12 rebounds) and Bethune-Cookman (22 points, 10 rebounds).
Shalunda Burney-Robinson (FAMU) averaged 14.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in a pair of wins this past week, scoring 15 points against Howard before dropping 14 and grabbing six boards against Morgan State.
Erin Blaine (HOW) had 11 points and a career-high 13 rebounds against Florida A&M for her second double-double of the season.
Te’Shya Heslip (HOW) scored 24 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out five assists in a win over South Carolina State.
Keyera Eaton (MDES) averaged 12.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game this past week, including a 15-point, 6-rebound effort against Savannah State.
Tori Morris (MDES) averaged 10.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game this past week, including a 14-point, 7-rebound game in handing Hampton its first MEAC loss of the season.
Kala Green (NCAT) scored 13 points and had four assists in a win over Delaware State.
Jordan Strode (NSU) averaged 19.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists this past week; she scored 21 points against North Carolina A&T State, before dropping 18 against South Carolina State.
JaQuanna Murray (SCSU) averaged 5.5 blocks per game this past week, including a career-high seven at Howard.
