Coppin State redshirt junior Genesis Lucas and Bethune-Cookman sophomore Ashanti Hunt were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week, the conference office announced today. North Carolina A&T State’s Alexus Lessears earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Norfolk State Kayla Roberts was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Lucas (G, 5-7, r-Jr., Brandywine, Md.) averaged 20.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals in helping Coppin State go 2-0 this past week. She hit seven of her 15 3-pointers in those two games, and against South Carolina State, she scored 21 points while grabbing four rebounds, dishing out six assists and grabbing two steals. She also had 19 points, five assists and three steals against Delaware State.
Hunt (G, 5-11, So., Washington, D.C.) averaged 15.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals this past week in wins over Maryland Eastern Shore and Hampton. She was a combined 10-for-21 (.476) from the floor, and she recorded a double-double (19 points, 11 rebounds) against MDES. Against Hampton, Hunt dropped 12 points, grabbed six rebounds and had five steals.
Lessears (C, 6-3, Fr., Cleveland, Ohio) averaged 14.0 points and 12.5 rebounds in two games this past week, going a combined 12-for-21 (.571) from the floor and recording double-doubles in both contests. She had 16 points and 11 rebounds in a win over South Carolina State, while also recording 12 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks against Howard.
Roberts (G/F, 6-1, Jr., Miami Fla.) averaged 8.5 rebounds 3.5 blocks and 1.0 steals this past week. In a win over South Carolina State, she grabbed 12 rebounds and had seven blocked shots – the MEAC’s third-highest total in a game this season – and she added seven boards at Florida A&M. Roberts also scored 10 points in the South Carolina State game for a double-double.

Armani Walker (B-CU) had eight points and two steals in a win over Hampton.
Kailyn Williams (B-CU) averaged 10 rebounds a game this past week, including 12 boards against Hampton, while also totaling five blocks in two games.
Chance Graham (CSU) averaged 12.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in two games for the Eagles, including a 13-point, 12-rebound effort against South Carolina State.
Keena Samuels (CSU) had 23 points and six rebounds against South Carolina State.
Alicia McCray (FAMU) had 11 points and 13 rebounds, to go along with six blocks, in an upset win over Norfolk State.
Shakerrya Morrison (FAMU) had double-doubles in both games last week: 11 points and 13 rebounds against Norfolk State and 10 and 10 against North Carolina Central.
Monnazjea Finney-Smith (HAM) scored a season-high 22 points and had three steals in a loss at Bethune-Cookman.
Georgianna Gilbeaux (HAM) had a career high-tying eight rebounds and four steals at Bethune-Cookman.
Sarah Edmond (HOW) set career highs in rebounds and assists (eight each) against Morgan State.
Te’Shya Heslip (HOW) averaged 13.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game as the Lady Bison went 1-1 this past week.
Sydni Johnson (HOW) scored 21 points and grabbed five rebounds against Morgan State.
Mariah McCoy (MDES) averaged 10.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in games against Bethune-Cookman and North Carolina Central.
Zuri White (MSU) had 17 points, 14 rebounds and a block against Howard.
Tykyrah Williams (MSU) dropped 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while also hitting the clinching free throws in a win over Howard.
Aliyah Kilpatrick (NCAT) averaged 18.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, dropping 21 points against South Carolina State before recording a double-double (16 points, 11 rebounds) against Howard.
Gabrielle Swinson (NSU) had 17 points, six rebounds, seven assists and five steals in a win over South Carolina State.
Bryeasha Blair (SCSU) averaged 23.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per game as the Lady Bulldogs played three times this past week, including a career-high 29 against Norfolk State.
Tiyonda Davis (SSU) recorded her sixth double-double of the season with a 15-point, 10-rebound performance against Allen (S.C.) University.
