MEAC Men's Basketball Weekly Honors



Florida A&M's Desmond Williams and North Carolina Central's Patrick Cole have been selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference co-men's basketball players of the week, the conference announced today. Howard freshman Charles Williams was named Rookie of the Week while North Carolina Central's Will Ransom captured Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Cole averaged 20 points in two games this past week as the Eagles finished 1-1. He also averaged 7.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game as the Newark, N.J. came close to a second triple-double with 19 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists at LSU.

Williams averaged 19 points on 64 percent shooting while also leading the MEAC in blocked shots (5) and tying for second in steals (4). Against Jacksonville last week, Williams shot 81 percent from the field on 9-of-11 shooting with four blocks.

Williams finished a three-game slate with 17.7 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. Williams led the Bison to a 2-1 mark as he also shot 40 percent from the field.

Ransom concluded last week with seven rebounds per game, 2.5 blocks and 1.5 steals as NCCU compiled a 1-1 mark. The Fort Worth, Texas native also was near-perfect from the field as he shot 88.9 percent.
