NORFOLK, Va. — Maryland Eastern Shore sophomore Ciani Byrom was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced today. Kayla Roberts, of Norfolk State was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Byrom (G, 5-5, So., Winston-Salem, N.C.) shot 62-percent (13-of-21) from the floor in victories over Saint Francis (PA) and Florida Atlantic at the FAU Holiday Tournament. She totaled 34 points, nine rebounds, eight steals and two steals in the two games. Also, she posted a game-high 25 points to seal the victory over Florida Atlantic and was selected to the FAU Holiday All-Tournament Team.
Roberts (F, 6-1, Jr., Miami, Fla.) totaled 21 rebounds, five steals and two blocks against William & Mary and Lincoln (PA). Fifteen of her 21 boards came on the defensive glass, and her two blocks against William & Mary moved her into 17th all-time in school history. Offensively, she tallied 22 points in the two games.

Tiyonda Davis (SSU) became the school’s all-time career blocks leader with 227 after posting five blocks against No. 11 Washington.
Keyera Eaton (MDES) totaled 22 points, 11 rebounds, four steals and three assists in victories over Saint Francis (PA) and Florida Atlantic.
Monnazjea Finney-Smith (HAM) averaged 11.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 0.5 blocks against Richmond and Old Dominion.
Dominique Harper (NSU) registered her first career double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds in a rout over Lincoln (PA).
Aliyah Kilpatrick (NCAT) averaged 14.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.6 assists against Florida, Florida Gulf Coast and Slippery Rock.
Kaylah Lupoe (HAM) posted a season-high five blocks against Old Dominion and three steals in a victory against Richmond.
JaQuanna Murray (SCSU) recorded her first career double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds against USC Upstate.
NaJai Pollard (DSU) tallied 16 points, 10 rebounds, four blocks and two steals against Iowa State.
Tykyrah Williams (MSU) finished with 19 points, eight boards, three steals and two blocks against Robert Morris.
