NORFOLK, Va., - Norfolk State’s Zaynah Robinson earned the first MEAC men’s basketball player of the week honor, the conference announced today. Norfolk State’s Dan Robinson was named Defensive Player of the Week while Maryland Eastern Shore’s Tyler Jones was named Rookie of the Week.
Robinson (G, 5-11, Jr., Atlanta, Ga.) opened the season with a bang as he averaged 19.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and six assists in two games played last weekend. Against Mississippi State on Friday, Robinson scored 21 points, dished out five assists and finished with three steals as the Spartans fell by only four points. On Sunday versus Shenandoah, Robinson once again led NSU in scoring with 18 points while tallying seven assists, two steals and six rebounds as they evened their record at 1-1.
Robinson also was perfect from the charity stripe as he finished 7-for-7.
Dan Robinson (C, 7-0, R-Jr., Norfolk, Va.) was a force in the middle this past weekend for Norfolk State as he averaged three blocks in two games played. Robinson finished with six total blocks as he had three apiece versus Mississippi State and Shenandoah.
Jones (F, 6-7, Fr., Atlantic City, N.J.) had a breakout home debut on Sunday as he scored a game-high 28 points versus Maryland Baltimore County off the bench. He also was perfect from the three-point line and shot nearly 80 percent from the field. For the week, the freshman from Atlantic City, N.J. totaled 15.5 points, three rebounds, one block and finished 83 percent from beyond the arc.

Joshua Treadwell (CSU) Treadwell made five three-pointers and finished with a game-high 25 points (one shy of his career-high) versus Hofstra on Friday. He made 7-of-14 shots from the field and 6-of-9 free throws.
Dejuan Clayton (CSU) Clayton led the Eagles’ bench scoring with 11 points on 4-of-6 shots from the field at Hofstra.
Bakari Copeland (MDES) Averaged 17 points, 8.5 rebounds and two assists in two games played. Finished 50 percent from the three-point line and 44 percent from the field.
Tiwian Kendley (MSU) Finished with 18 points in his Bear debut. The junior guard connected on 6-of-16 from the field and grabbed three boards in 24 minutes of action against the Houston Cougars.
Phillip Carr (MSU) Scored 16 points and hauled in a team-high seven rebounds. Carr also added a steal and a blocked shot to his first stat line of the season.
