North Carolina A&T Wins MEAC Southern Division

GREENSBORO – Back in October the North Carolina A&T bowling team was picked first in the MEAC southern division preseason poll. On Sunday it saw that prediction unveiled as it posted another perfect day on the lanes to capture the divisional title at Galimore Lanes on the campus of Florida A&M.

The accomplishment serves as a testament of the hard work that No. 10 A&T has put in during its historic 2014-15 season. The divisional title marks the first time since the 2005-06 season that the Aggies have won the southern division.

The Aggies (62-33 overall, 20-4 MEAC) went undefeated during the final MEAC meet. After going 4-0 in Saturday’s traditional team games, A&T topped FAMU 958-836, No. 18 Norfolk State 996-888, N.C. Central 976-828 and Bethune-Cookman 1,059-909 in Sunday’s baker games. The Aggies finished the meet with a total pinfall of 8,238 and averaged 206.0 throughout their games.

NSU (57-33, 13-11) who won the southern divisional title for the past four seasons finished third behind Bethune-Cookman (52-39, 15-9) who was second. FAMU (25-33, 12-12) was fourth while NCCU (5-34, 0-24) finished fifth.

The Aggies have one more milestone in the conference to accomplish which will take place on Mar. 20-22 when they compete in the MEAC tournament in Chesapeake, Va.

Until then, A&T will compete in the Columbia City 300 Music Classic (Mar. 6-8) in Smyrna, Tenn., and the USBC Sectionals (Mar. 13-15) in Stratford, N.J.
