Cliff Watkins has served as Director of MEAC Nation since the initiative’s launch in February 2022. In this role, he acts as the primary liaison for MEAC Nation and leads efforts to strengthen alumni engagement across the conference. Under his direction, MEAC Nation promotes conference events, supports outreach to alumni, former student-athletes, fans, and supporters, represents the conference at sponsorship and industry engagements, and advances initiatives that enhance the overall MEAC experience. He also collaborates with the MEAC Foundation to provide scholarships to undergraduate students during the MEAC Basketball Tournament.
In addition to his leadership with MEAC Nation, Mr. Watkins is a Senior Project Manager with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District. As an experienced Project Manager oversees a project portfolio exceeding $50 million and mentors emerging project managers in support of federal agency missions. His previous federal service includes his role as a Project Manager with the Architect of the Capitol, where he managed preservation projects within the Library of Congress Jurisdiction.
A native of Martinsville, Virginia, Mr. Watkins earned a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction Technology from Norfolk State University and a Master of Architecture from Morgan State University. He is a Spring 1992 initiate of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and a member of the Lambda Xi Nu Graduate Chapter in Glen Burnie, Maryland. His personal interests include fitness, volunteer service, and motorcycling through the scenic back roads of Maryland.
