Larry Barber served as the Director of the News and Service Bureau for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) for over two decades (1978-1998).
He was instrumental in generating national attention for the conference and its member institutions through his expertise in public relations. Barber, a talented writer, wrote feature articles and games stories for various newspapers and magazines.
A member of College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA), he was also a founding member of the Black College Sports Information Directors Association (BCSIDA).
Barber continues to be a freelance writer for THE CAROLINA TIMES (Durham, NC) and as a contributing writer to black college sports publications. He currently serves as a National Customer Relations Advocate for the Sears Holdings Corporation.
