NORFOLK, Va. – Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) volleyball action got underway as Coppin State picked up a pair of sweep victories, while North Carolina Central outlasted Maryland Eastern Shore in a five-set thriller to headline the weekend.  

Coppin State swept Howard, led by Cherisse Atilano with 10 kills. Deviana Walker contributed nine kills with a .500 hitting percentage. Kayden Cupid and Ivanna Luna each added six kills, with Cupid also hitting .500. Coppin State also swept Norfolk State, with Deviana Walker leading the offense with 15 kills on 24 attacks, no errors, a .625 hitting percentage, 4 digs, and 15 total points. Eva Rovello directed the offense with 36 assists over three sets, along with 3 kills, 3 digs, an ace, and a solo block.  
 
Delaware State defeated North Carolina Central 3-0, led by Aaliyah Mitchell with a team-high 9 kills and 9.5 points. Hannah Sanders was highly efficient, recording 7 kills on a .778 hitting percentage and 4 block assists. 
 
Morgan State opened MEAC play with a 3-1 victory over Norfolk State. Jada Williams led the Bears with a match-high 18.5 points and a double-double, recording 15 kills, 10 digs, 3 blocks, and 1 ace.  
 
Maryland Eastern Shore secured a 3-1 victory over South Carolina State on Friday, September 25, in Princess Anne, Maryland. For South Carolina State, Kenna Harris led with a team-high 13.5 points, recording 12 kills on 24 attacks with a .292 hitting percentage and 3 block assists. Hedia Lewis contributed 10 points with 9 kills and a solo block over four sets.  
 
North Carolina Central secured a five-set victory over Maryland Eastern Shore, led by strong individual performances. Shalyn Bell led the team with 27 points, including 18 kills, 7 service aces, and 13 digs. Breylan Fairley contributed 59 assists and 9 digs. Morgan Wingo added 17 points with 13 kills on a .611 hitting percentage and 3 blocks, while Talia Emmen matched her with 17 points, 15 kills, and 2 aces. Aniah Bass also contributed 10 kills.  
 
Howard bounced back on Sunday with a 3-1 victory over Morgan State. Addison Buckner led the offense with a team-high 16 kills and 17.0 points, adding 6 digs and an ace. Dayion Johnson attacked efficiently, recording 13 kills on 22 swings with four errors for a .409 hitting percentage. Alexys James filled the stat sheet with a double-double of 21 assists and 13 digs, along with 8 kills (.240 pct) and 3 service aces.
