NORFOLK, Va., Mar. 2, 2026 – Norfolk State junior Maddy Morris has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Player of the Week, while teammate
Peyton Moran earned
Rookie of the Week honors.
Morgan State’s Serena Rodriguez was recognized as the
Pitcher of the Week.
Morris (Jr, R/R, Hampton, Va.) went 2–0 with a 0.50 ERA in two complete-game efforts, including a 6–0 shutout in game two of the series against St. Peter’s. Over 14 innings, she allowed just one earned run, struck out seven batters, and held opponents to a .264 batting average.
Moran (Fr., INF, Virginia Beach, Va.) hit .333 over the weekend, going 2-for-6 with one double, one run scored, and one RBI.
Rodriguez (Jr., P, Simi Valley Calif.) finished the week with a 10.50 ERA over 14 innings, recording five strikeouts and throwing one complete game, including three strikeouts in a matchup at Towson.
Other Top Performers
- Jordan Maryn (HOW) batted .571 over the weekend, including a two-hit performance in Howard’s win over Minnesota. She also added five stolen bases, three walks, and two RBI for the week.
- Millie Cousins (MSU) hit .400 for the week with a home run, two RBI, and a .700 slugging percentage across four starts.
