MEAC Announces Weekly Softball Honors

NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 23, 2026 – Norfolk State sophomore Bristyl Riddick has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Player of the Week. Maryland Eastern Shore’s Skylar Skinner was named Rookie of the Week, while teammate Paris Richards was named the Pitcher of the Week.
   
Riddick (So, R/R, Hertford, N.C.) hit .462 with six hits, three home runs and four RBI, highlighted by a two-homer performance against Saint Francis. She added four runs scored and was perfect defensively behind the plate. 

Skinner (Fr., INF, Flossmoor, Ill.) went 2-for-6 with two home runs, three runs scored, and three RBI in the Hawks’ doubleheader sweep of Virginia Union. Defensively, she was flawless at second base, recording five assists and one putout for a 1.000 fielding percentage. 

Richards (Jr., P/INF, Oregon City, Ore.) tossed a complete-game six-inning victory in the Hawks’ 9-1 win over Virginia Union University, allowing just one earned run with three strikeouts and one walk. She finished the week with a 1.17 ERA .

  • Aiko Conaway (HOW) posted a 2.33 ERA over the weekend, highlighted by a six-inning outing against #17 LSU in which she did not surrender an earned run. 
  • Izabella Chavez (NCCU) batted .444 over the weekend, collecting four hits and driving in four RBI. 
  • Emily Gunther (UMES) went 6-for-7, including one double, while tallying four RBI and two runs scored in a doubleheader sweep of Virginia Union. 
  • McKaley Kohn (NSU) recorded two hits in 10 at-bats, scoring one run and driving in one RBI over the weekend. 
  • Maddy Morris (NSU) struck out three batters while allowing five earned runs on 10 hits across 9.1 innings pitched. 
  • Hunter Newman (MSU) batted .357 with five hits, including a double and a home run, driving in two RBI over five games.
