MEAC Announces Weekly Bowling Honors

The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference announced its weekly bowling honors, recognizing University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Madison Colston as Bowler of the Week and University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s Gabriela Becerra Diaz as Rookie of the Week.

Madison Colston (Gr., Pinellas Park, Fla.) delivered a dominant performance across multiple statistical categories. She ranked first in overall average per frame, first in baker average per frame (21.49), and fourth in traditional average per frame (20.08). Colston also led the field in overall fill percentage (91.4), strike percentage (57.1), nine count spare percentage (97.3), overall spare percentage (80.0), and baker only fill percentage (93.3).

Behind Colston’s strong showing, UAB claimed the team title at the Southern Queens Tournament, earning victories over Southern University and Sam Houston State.

Gabriela Becerra Diaz (Fr., Cali, Colombia) earned Rookie of the Week honors after finishing sixth overall at the James Brown Invitational with a 178.80 average pinfall. She ranked 10th in overall average per frame (17.72), ninth in traditional average per frame (17.88), and 11th in baker average per frame (17.59). Becerra Diaz also placed ninth in overall fill percentage (78.2), second in nine count spare percentage (95.7), and fifth in overall spare percentage (68.4).

Maryland Eastern Shore finished second at the James Brown Invitational, posting a 2-2 record in baker matches with wins over Barton College and Virginia State, along with a 1-3 mark in traditional play highlighted by a victory over Barton College.
