CARY, N.C. – Ryan Chong of North Carolina Central placed among the top 50 finishers in the men's 6K race at the adidas Cross Country Challenge held Friday at WakeMed Soccer Park.
Competing against a strong field including several nationally-ranked teams, Chong placed 45
th out of 158 runners to lead NCCU. Evans Kimutai was 55
th and Avan Hinkle followed in 60
th place. As a unit, the Eagles placed 9
th out of 15 teams participating.
Laila Jackson led NCCU in the women's 5K, placing 95
th out of 147 competitors, as the Eagles finished 13th out of 17 teams.

The Eagles return to WakeMed Soccer Park in two weeks (Oct. 3) for the Cedric Walker HBCU Challenge, which is part of the Great American Cross Country Festival. The women's 5K is at 5 p.m. followed by the men's 8K at 5:30 p.m.
