CLEMSON, S.C. – The Norfolk State volleyball team battled through a pair of competitive matches on Friday at the Big Orange Bash, falling to Georgetown and Charleston Southern. With the setbacks, the Spartans dropped to 0-11 on the season, while the Hoyas moved to 6-5 and the Buccaneers improved to 6-4.
Against Georgetown, Gabrielle Gilbert paced the Spartan attack with 14 kills, followed by Isis Castille with 10. Maya Wood delivered three service aces, while Jayda Berry anchored the defense with seven blocks. Castille chipped in five blocks of her own. Sydney McCree dished out 29 assists, while Mary Nahinu (22) and Gilbert (10) recorded double-digit digs.
In the matchup with Charleston Southern, Gilbert once again led the way with 10 kills. McCree registered a double-double with 21 assists and 10 digs, and Jasmine Mataira provided a spark from the service line with five aces.

FAIRFAX, Va. – TaKenya Stafford led all players with 21 kills and added 16 digs as Coppin State's volleyball team came away with a highly-contested, 3-2 (25-23, 19-25, 25-18, 24-26, 15-11) victory at George Mason on Thursday night at the Recreation & Athletic Complex. The Eagles improved to 6-7 on the year while snapping the Patriots' (6-4) three-match win streak.
Cherisse Atilano also finished with a double-double, tallying ten kills with 13 digs to go with a team-high three service aces. Ivanna Luna added eight kills, followed by McKenzie Parks with a season-high seven kills on 13 swings to hit .462 while adding a pair of blocks. Also contributing on the offensive end was Kayden Cupid with six, Andrea Cintron with three and Payton Swinton with a pair.
Howard def. High Point, 3-0 BOX SCORE | RECAP
WASHINGTON — Howard women's volleyball marked their fourth sweep of the season, defeating High Point in straight sets (3-0) at Burr Gymnasium on Thursday night. The Bison improved their record to 6-3 (0-0 MEAC) with set scores of 25-22, 25-17, 25-20. High Point falls to 2-7 (0-0 Big South).
Rya McKinnon was the offensive engine for Howard, finishing with a game-high 16 kills. Zenai Jethroe was also a force on the floor, contributing 9 kills and adding a strong blocking presence (five blocks). Kaitlynn Robinson added a solid performance at the net with five blocks to help stymie High Point attacks. Adding to the defense, Aziah Buckner (Memphis, Tenn.) added 10 digs to her season stats.
