NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State men's basketball unveiled its 2025-26 nonconference schedule, featuring a mix of in-state rivalries, Power Five opponents, and marquee showcase games.
"This is going to be a very challenging schedule with the mix of high major foes, top mid-major teams, and local 757 rivalries," head coach Robert Jones said. "With 11 new players, we have to be ready for this tall task."
The Spartans open the season on Nov. 3 at Echols Hall against Washington Adventist before hosting Regent on Nov. 5 and William & Mary on Nov. 8. Norfolk State hits the road for a stretch, first against cross town foe Old Dominion on Nov. 11, before traveling to Towson on Nov. 14. The Spartans return home to face Hampton in the Battle of the Bay on Nov. 21.
"With Battle of the Bay coming to Echols Hall, ODU rivalry renewed, and William & Mary coming to Echols Hall, this would be the first time to play all the 757 teams in one year," Jones said. "We are very excited for this opportunity."
The team travels to Wyoming on Nov. 23 and hosts Virginia-Lynchburg on Nov. 25. The month closes with a major matchup at Arizona on Nov. 29.
December brings a tough slate with road contests at James Madison (Dec. 6) and Baylor (Dec. 10). Norfolk State also competes in the HBCU Challenge, facing Jackson State on Dec. 18 and Grambling State on Dec. 19 in Las Vegas. The Spartans then head to the Sun Bowl to battle UTEP on Dec. 21, before closing the calendar year with a matchup at Louisiana-Lafayette (Dec. 28).
"We are looking forward to the CP3 HBCU Challenge event, as it's always intense games versus SWAC opponents," Jones said. "We are also looking forward to an incredible Sun Bowl field in El Paso against some of the best mid-major programs in the country."
Norfolk State will close its nonconference schedule with a matchup against Elizabeth City State on Jan. 19.
