TAMPA, Fla. (July 28, 2025) – With the Howard University football team preparing for the upcoming 2025 campaign, the preseason accolades continue to roll in with running back
Eden James (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) and defensive lineman
Noah Miles (Tampa, Fla.) being selected to the East-West Shrine Bowl 1000 list. The announcement came Monday morning.
Last week (July 22), during the league's annual football media day, both Bison were named to the preseason All-MEAC First Team.
A year ago, James appeared in all 12 games, producing 570 yards of total offense (422 rushing & 148 receiving) with three rushing TDs. In the annual Truth & Service Classic (Sept. 21, 2024), he had 107 yards on 14 carries with a TD against Hampton.
For Miles, he finished among the MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) leaders in tackles for loss (4
th) and sacks (4
th). He played 11 contests, racking up 35 total tackles (21 solos), including 11.5 tackles for losses, with eight sacks, a pass breakup, a forced fumble and a blocked kick.
The East-West Shrine Bowl is a best-in-class all-star event that will take place inside Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas (Jan. 27, 2026). The players will be coached by NFL coaches, in an NFL facility and will have access to NFL-level resources, facilities, player-friendly schedules and opportunities at the highest level.
The East West Shrine Bowl is also the longest-running college all-star football game in the nation, having started in 1925.
Howard opens the 2025 season against Florida A&M in the Orange Blossom Classic Saturday (Aug. 30). Kickoff is set for 4 p.m., at Hard Rock Stadium.
