TEMPE, Ariz. (July 21, 2025) – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) revealed its 2025 Division I Men's & Women's Scholar Athletes where Howard University grabbed All-Academic honors. The announcement came Monday morning.
During the 2024-25 academic year, the Bison men earned a 3.42 grade point average (GPA) while the HU women posted a 3.25 GPA.
"I am very proud of our young men and women," said Howard Director of Tennis
Nicholas Askew. "Our teams not only excel on the court, but in the classroom as well. A special thanks goes to our academic service support team for their endless help."
To be eligible for ITA All-Academic honors, a team must have a 3.2 GPA or better during the 2024-25 academic year.
Additionally, six Bison received ITA Scholar Athlete Recognition for maintaining a 3.5 GPA or better during the 2024-25 academic year:
Marcel Dawson (Columbus, Ga.);
Daniel Dunac (Washington);
Jordan Grayson (Gaithersburg, Md.);
Michael Major Jr. (Nassau, Bahamas);
Lauren Oliver (Winston-Salem, N.C.) and
Shawn Mitchell Yon (Queens, N.Y.).
Collectively, more than 2,600 Division I student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete.
