NORFOLK, Va., April 7, 2025 – Howard senior Alyssa Vasquez has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Player of the Week. Fellow Bison teammates Lauryn Jones and Mia Gonzales were named Rookie and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.
Vasquez (Sr., C, Eastvale, Calif.) recorded a .500 batting average going 5-of-10 at the plate helping the Bison sweep the series against Delaware State. She scored three runs, four RBI, one double and one triple. In the second game of the series, Vasquez went 2-of-3 at the plate recording her four RBI on one double and one triple. She added 19 putouts over the weekend including 12 in the series finale against Delaware State.
Jones (Fr., INF, Denton, Texas) registered four runs on seven hits in nine at-bats while helping the Bison to a 3-0 week. Jones recorded three hits each in the first two games of the DSU series extending her hitting streak to four games.
Gonzales (Sr., P, Atwater, Calif.) threw a complete game shutout in the series opener against Delaware State giving up just two hits while fanning a career-high eight of 24 batters faced.

- McKenzie Abiley (Maryland Eastern Shore) collected a .444 batting average going 4-of-9 at the plate with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored.
- Clarke Calvin (Maryland Eastern Shore) registered a .333 batting average going 2-of-6 at the plate with one RBI, one double, one stolen base, two putouts and four assists in an 1-2 week.
- Kassidy Oneail (Maryland Eastern Shore) pitched 13.0 innings through three games for UMES collecting an ERA of 2.69 while surrendering five earned runs on 11 hits with five walks and six strikeouts.
- Victoria Fletcher (Morgan State) threw 13.0 innings surrendering three runs on the week while striking out nine of 50 batters faced. Pitched a complete game shutout against NC Central in the series opener with four strikeouts and closed the series giving up three runs on eight hits with three strikeouts.
- Morgan Harrell-Alvarez (Morgan State) recorded a .273 batting average going 3-of-11 at the plate with four runs scored, two RBI, two doubles and two walks with nine putouts and 11 assists in a 2-2 week for the Bears.
- Amaya McPherson (Norfolk State) threw 10.2 innings giving up three earned runs on 14 hits with nine strikeouts, including seven in the series opener against UMES.
- Ennovi Sandoval (Norfolk State) went 4-of-7 (.571) at the plate with three runs, four RBI, one double and one homerun.
- Brierra Tyler (Norfolk State) threw 7.1 innings striking out eight batters, including six in game two against UMES, while surrendering four runs on five hits.
- Jaden Davis (North Carolina Central) pitched two complete games going 1-1 in the circle with a 0.00 ERA, surrendering four runs on five hits while striking out 12 batters in a 1-2 week.
- Destiny Calloway (South Carolina State) pitched two complete games earning a 2.50 ERA giving up five earned runs on 12 hits with four walks and nine strikeouts.
- Jamaria Charley (South Carolina State) collected a .500 batting average going 5-of-10 at the plate with four runs and five RBI with one triple, two walks and three stolen bases in a 3-0 week for the Bulldogs.
- Lashea Morlu (South Carolina State) pitched three innings in relief to assist in the 10-5 series opening win against Coppin State.
