NORFOLK, Va. - Norfolk State men’s basketball graduate guard, Christian Ings, has been selected to participate in the King's Hawaiian Slam Dunk Championship as a part of the 36th annual State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships.
The King's Hawaiian Slam Dunk Championship will take place on Thursday, April 3, at the Frost Bank Center, home of the San Antonio Spurs, in San Antonio, Texas. The event will air live on ESPN at 7 PM ET.
The Philadelphia, Pa. Native made ESPN’s Top 10 twice in the same day with two outstanding dunks against Morgan State on senior night, Monday, February 24. His first dunk of the contest landed at No. 3 on the Top 10 list while his second dunk, less than a minute later, claimed the top spot.
Ings finished the 2024-25 season averaging 12.1 points, 3.2 assists and 2.1 rebounds per game. The third-team All-MEAC honoree ranked ninth in the MEAC in free throw percentage (73.6), fifth in assists and fourth in assist to turnover ratio (1.4).
He was a key contributor to helping the Norfolk State Spartans claim a share of the regular season title before winning the 2025 MEAC Championship with a 66-65 victory over South Carolina State.
