DURHAM, N.C. – Softball student-athlete Nyla Rodgers of North Carolina Central has been selected to attend the 2025 NCAA Career in Sports Forum on May 28-31.

Rodgers was among 200 student-athletes chosen to participate in the sports forum, which takes place at the NCAA National Office in Indianapolis, Ind. For four days, the attendees will meet for professional and personal development.

Rodgers, a junior utility player on the Eagles' softball team, was thrilled to be selected.

"Honestly, my first reaction was pure shock, in the best way," said Rodgers, who majors in sports medicine. "This was such an amazing opportunity that I applied for without really expecting to get in, so when I saw the email, I was beyond excited. It truly felt like a blessing from God to be given an opportunity this big."

The student-athletes will explore career paths in athletics in addition to gaining knowledge from keynote speakers in the professional and collegiate sports industry. They will have the opportunity to network with their peers and current sports professionals in sessions at the forum, themed "Campfires to Careers" this year.

"I'm hoping to gain a deeper understanding of the different paths within athletic administration," said Rodgers, a Greenville, N.C., native. "As a student-athlete at NCCU, I've had a lot of meaningful experiences and have built strong relationships with some incredible people in administration. So, I'd love to provide that same kind of support to future athletes. I'm also really looking forward to connecting with athletes from across the country and learning from their journeys, too."

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be at least a third-year player and have participated in an NCAA-sponsored sport during the current academic year at the time of the application deadline.
