NORFOLK, Va., April 14, 2025 – Norfolk State junior Emory Shorts has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Player of the Week.
Howard rookie Lauryn Jones was named Rookie of the Week while
Delaware State sophomore Kristin White garnered Pitcher of the Week honors respectively.
Shorts (Jr., INF, Warrenton, Va.) recorded a .400 batting average going 4-of-10 at the plate helping the Spartans sweep the series against Morgan State. She recorded two runs, three RBI, three doubles, one stolen base, six putouts and five assists in the week. In the opening game of the series, Shorts drove in two RBI on two hits, both doubles, in three plate appearances. She added her third double of the weekend in game two while also contributing three putouts. In the series finale, Shorts collected four assists in the infield in the narrow 1-0 victory.
Jones (Fr., INF, Denton, Texas) registered three runs on four hits in seven at-bats while helping the Bison to a 2-0 week. Jones recorded two RBI, three runs, three stolen bases and three putouts in two games. In the series opener she scored twice with two stolen bases while also contributing three putouts against Coppin State. In game two she went 3-of-4 at the plate with two RBI, one run and one stolen base.
White (So., P, Crofton, Md.) went 1-1 in the circle opening the series against South Carolina State with a 12-strikeout complete game, surrendering no runs against 24 batters faced. She pitched 2.1 innings in game two, striking out two batters while surrendering two runs on three this.

- Jaycee Holt (Maryland Eastern Shore) collected one run and one RBI while going 2-of-7 at the plate with one triple and four putouts on the weekend.
- Paris Richards (Maryland Eastern Shore) pitched 7.1 innings through two games for UMES collecting an ERA of 3.94 while surrendering four earned runs on nine hits with one walk and four strikeouts.
- Amaya McPherson (Norfolk State) threw 10.2 innings giving up no runs on eight hits with three strikeouts against 41 batters faced. Pitched her first collegiate shutout win in a 1-0 victory in game three against Morgan State.
- Jaden Davis (North Carolina Central) threw a complete game going 1-0 in the circle with a 2.00 ERA, surrendering two runs on five hits while striking out six batters en route to her ninth pitching win of the season.
- Elana Krupey (North Carolina Central) pitched 5.0 innings striking out six batters of 22 faced surrendering no runs on three hits.
- Nyla Rodgers (North Carolina Central) went 3-of-5 at the plate (.600) collecting one RBI, three runs, one triple and two assists over two games against UMES.
