DURHAM, N.C. – After falling in a nailbiter in the first game against Norfolk State University in February, the North Carolina Central University men's basketball team came out victorious in overtime, 91-87 on Monday evening in McDougald-McLendon Arena.
Senior guard Keishon Porter finished with a team-high 24 points and grabbed five rebounds. Po'Boigh King (18), Dionte Johnson (13), Jaqai Murray (10) and Isaac Parson (10) all joined Porter in double figures.
Junior Perry Smith Jr. grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds, helping lead the charge as the Eagles outrebounded Norfolk State 35-26.
NCCU (13-17, 6-7 MEAC) has now won two straight games completing its home schedule with a 10-4 record.

Morgan State def. Delaware State - 87-81
BALTIMORE, Md. - Morgan State secured a hard-fought 87-81 victory over the Delaware State Hornets on Monday night, fueled by Kameron Hobbs' team-high 20 points as the Bears held off a late Hornets' rally on 'Senior Night' at Hill Field House.
Kameron Hobbs shot 5-for-10 from the field and grabbed a game-high four rebounds, with three assists and three steals in 37 minutes.
Will Thomas added 16 points (7-11 FG) and seven rebounds. Daniel Akitoby recorded his eighth double-double of the season by scoring 12 points with 10 rebounds. Rob Lawson also scored 12 points, and Kiran Oliver chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds.
Robert Smith led the Hornets with a game-high 34 points (12-24 FG) and had four steals.
Kasem Watson scored 18 points (6-15 FG) with nine boards.
Muneer Newton chipped in 15 points with a game-high 12 rebounds.

S.C. State def. Howard - 79-69
ORANGEBURG, SC—Sophomore forward Drayton Jones recorded the games only double-double with 15 points, 12 rebounds and four (4) blocks to lead South Carolina State to a season sweep over Howard Monday (March 3rd) inside Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
Senior forward Davion Everett finished with a team-high 19 points and six (6) rebounds, while freshman guard Jayden Johnson added 12 in the win.
The Bulldog defense played lights out forcing Howard to 15 turnovers, six blocks and seven steals on the day. SCSU captured its 8th straight win and is tied for 1st place in league standings with Norfolk State at 10-3 in the MEAC.

Md. Eastern Shore def. Coppin State - 72-59
BALTIMORE, Md. - Balanced scoring propels Hawks to 72-59 win at Coppin State. Four players scored in double figures for the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in a 72-59 road win over Coppin State on Monday night.
Coppin State opened the game on a 7-0 run. Eight early points by UMES guard Evan Johnson brought the Hawks back within a possession of the lead and a three-point play by Hassan Perkins gave the Hawks its first lead of the night, 17-16, at the 13:22 mark. Perkins would go on to score nine points in the opening 20 minutes of play. UMES grabbed momentum late in the half with a 13-2 run capped off by a Jalen Ware dunk to take a 36-29 lead at intermission.
