Women’s Hoops’ Laila Lawrence Named Second Team All-ECAC

DANBURY, Conn. – Coppin State's Laila Lawrence has been named to 2025 Division I Women's Basketball All-ECAC Second Team, it was announced by the organization last week. Harvard's Harmoni Turner was voted Player of the Year. Gal Raviv from Quinnipiac was named Rookie of the Year, and Richmond's Aaron Roussell won Coach of the Year.
 
A senior from Lewisville, Texas, Lawrence was named the 2024-25 MEAC Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-Conference selection after leading the Eagles in points (16.1), rebounds (10.6), blocks (45) and steals (85). Her 22 double-doubles ranked second in the Nation and she led the MEAC in rebounds while ranking second in points and steals, fourth in blocks and eighth in assists. Lawrence was the only player nationwide to average 15 points, nine rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block.
 
Lawrence's 359 rebounds set a CSU single-season record while her blocks and steals ranked fourth and fifth in Eagles history, respectively.  In just two seasons at Coppin, Lawrence ranks 16th in school history with 971 points, 11th in rebounds (672), second in rebounding average (10.5), sixth in scoring average (15.2) and ninth in blocks (82).
 
In her collegiate career, Lawrence finished with 1,675 points and 1,073 rebounds to go with 191 assists, 188 steals and 126 in blocks in 129 games. Lawrence posted 46 double-doubles with 37 coming in a Coppin uniform.
 
Coppin State (19-15) earned its first postseason bid since 2009, advancing to the Second Round of the WNIT before falling in overtime.  The Eagles won their most games since 2012 with a school-record ten non-conference victories.
