GREENSBORO, N.C. – Samaria Jackson smacked her second home run of the season for North Carolina Central in a 14-6 softball loss to rival North Carolina A&T at the Aggie Softball Complex on Tuesday.

The contest was originally scheduled for Wednesday but was moved to Tuesday due to the threat of inclement weather.

Jackson's two-out, three-run homer tied the score 6-6 in the top of the fifth inning. The Aggies responded with eight unanswered runs between the fifth and sixth innings for the win.

GAME 1 - DOVER, Del. -- Freshman Rhyannon Stanley, freshman Kaylanie Rodriquez and freshman Devyn Carlson combined to throw a shutout on Tuesday as the Delaware State Hornets blanked the Virginia Union Panthers 12-0.

Stanley (1-0) started and picked up the win for Delaware State (1-0), going three shutout innings while giving up three hits, walking one, and striking out four. Carlson was dealing out of the bullpen as well, going one shutout inning without allowing a hit, walking one and striking out two.

GAME 2 - DOVER, Del. -- Delaware State received contributions from every part of their lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, helping the Hornets put 13 runs on the board and defeat the Virginia Union Panthers 13-3 Tuesday.

Sophomore Kristin White (1-0) started in the circle and picked up the win for Delaware State (2-0). The right-hander went two innings, giving up one run on one hit, allowing one walk and striking out three. Freshman Allyson Fonollosa also made an impact in the circle for the Hornets, throwing two scoreless innings while allowing no hits, with one walk and one strikeout.

WASHINGTON, D.C. –
Coppin State's softball team fell at George Washington University, 8-0, on Tuesday afternoon at GW Softball Field.  The Eagles fell to 0-4 on the season while the Buff & Blue improved to 5-1.
 
Tatjana Harris went the distance in the circle, allowing eight runs on ten hits while striking out one in 5.2 innings.
 
Giselle Ulloa and Kylee Sandino had Coppin's only two hits while Natasha Arroyo drew a walk. The Eagles' best chance to score came in the sixth as Arroyo led off with a walk before advancing to second on Sandino's single through the left side. A groundout by Paris Pinkston advanced both into scoring position before the threat ended with another groundout.
