MEAC Announces Weekly Women's Tennis Honors

NORFOLK, Va., Mar. 12, 2025 — Delaware State senior Kit Yi Kaye Au-Yeung has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week, while Norfolk State freshman Yuliya Yurkova earned MEAC Rookie of the Week honors.    
 
Au-Yeung (Sr., Hong Kong, China) went 2-0 on the week with a three-set singles win (5-7, 6-1, 10-7) over Towson’s Kiersten Tambe. She followed with a 6-3 doubles win with partner Lucia Casas Blas to defeat Towson’s Kiersten Tambe and Chandré Boshoff. 

Yurkova (Fr., Vitebsk, Belarus) won her singles match against Longwood’s Van Eijkelenburg (6-0, 6-2) and picked up a 6-1 doubles win over Hampton’s Melis Sakiroglu / Sofia Sokolova with partner Sofiya Tsitavets.

Other Top Performers  

  • Caroline Nicholls (NSU) won her singles match in three sets against Longwood's Oriana Izarra (4-6, 6-4, 6-3) before winning by retirement against Hampton’s Sofia Sokolova.
