MEAC Announces Weekly Bowling Honors

NORFOLK, Va., February 25, 2025 – North Carolina A&T State senior Maya Avilez was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowler of the Week. Fellow Aggie Victorya White was named the MEAC Rookie of the Week.

Avilez (Sr., Staten Island, N.Y.) helped the Aggies clinch their fifth consecutive MEAC Regular Season Championship title following the MEAC #2 Meet. N.C. A&T State finished with a 7,244 total pin count in traditional action averaging 1,034.86 pins per match. Avilez ranked first on the week in sum fill percentage (94.3), makeable spare percentage (96.3), and sum of nine-count spare percentage making all 14 attempts. She registered the second-best average per frame (22.33) while ranking fourth in sum of striking percentage (55.7) and sum of average first ball (9.14). 

White (Fr., Wentzville, Miss.) ranked second in sum fill percentage (91.4) and sum of average first ball (9.27). She also finished third in several categories to include average per frame (21.23), sum of striking percentage (57.1) and split leave percentage (4.3). 

Other Top Performers 

Mariana Santos Rivero (UMES) registered the fifth-best overall average per frame of 20.57 and the second-best sum fill percentage (91.4) to help the Hawks finish second in the MEAC standings.

Mariane Almeida (UMES) tallied the best split leave percentage (1.9%) of the weekend to help the Hawks finish second in the MEAC standings. 

Maddie Oliva (UAB) recorded an overall average per frame of 21.07 (4th) and a 48.6 sum of striking percentage (2nd) as the Blazer finished 8-6 overall in MEAC action sitting fourth in the standings.
