NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 24, 2025 – Norfolk State guard Diamond Johnson was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week. Howard's freshman guard Saniyah King and Delaware State forward Ericka Huggins were named Co-Rookies of the Week, while Norfolk States's senior forward Kierra Wheeler earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively.
Johnson (G, 5-5, Gr., Philadelphia, Pa.) averaged 22.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 2.5 assists in a 2-0 week for the Spartans. In the 92-44 win over Delaware State, she recorded 31 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Against Coppin State, Johnson contributed 13 points, nine rebounds, seven steals and two assists.
King (G, 5-7, Fr., Washington, D.C.) delivered an outstanding performance last week averaging 24.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.5 assists per game, leading the Bison to a 2-0 week. In a hard-fought win over Morgan State, she recorded 25 points, two steals and two rebounds. Against Maryland Eastern Shore, King tallied 24 points, five rebounds and two steals.
Huggins (F, Fr., Wilmington, Del.) posted a double-double in each of her matchups, averaging 18.5 points, 14.0 rebound and 2.0 steals per game for the Hornets. In the loss at Norfolk State, she recorded 18 points, 13 rebounds, two steals and one block. She matched that performance in the win over South Carolina State, finishing with 19 points, 15 rebounds, two steals and one assist.
Wheeler (F, 6-1, Sr., Minneapolis, Minn.) averaged 23.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 1.5 steals across two wins for the Spartans. She posted a season high 28 points, seven rebounds, two blocks and one steal over Coppin State. Wheeler added 18 points and eight rebounds, four blocks and two steals in the victory over Delaware State.

- Kiarra MceIrath (DSU) averaged 14.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.5 steals in a 1-1 week for the Hornets.
- Ce'Nara Skanes (UMES) registered a double-double against Howard with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

In a loss to North Carolina Central, she finished with 13 points, four rebounds, three blocks, and a steal, then followed with a career-high 29 points and 10 rebounds against Howard.
- Morgan Callahan (NCCU) recorded her sixth double-double of the season in a 71-53 win over Morgan State, finishing with 15 points, 11 rebounds, three blocks, a career-high six assists and three steals.
