NORFOLK, Va. --- Graduate guard Diamond Johnson landed on the later season watch list for the Dawn Staley Award announced by Phoenix Club of Philadelphia.
The Dawn Staley Award was established in 2013 to recognize the nation's best guard. The inaugural award was presented to Skylar Diggins of Notre Dame, with last year's winner also coming from Notre Dame (Hannah Hidalgo).
Johnson is included on a list that includes 17 other student athletes from the ACC, Big East, Big 10, SEC, and the Summit League. She is also one of only two mid-major student-athletes to be included on the list.
Johnson is averaging 19.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 3.2 steals per game this season. She also is tied for seventh in the nation with 83 steals, while ranking ninth in steals per game.
Johnson's inclusion on the list marks the second time in program history that a NSU player has been featured on the list with Chanette Hicks marking the first time in 2020.
This year's winner will be announced in March during the final four weekend.
