DURHAM, N.C. – Junior Neiman Sneed of the North Carolina Central University men's tennis team was featured by ABC11 for his volunteer work with youth in the Durham community throughout his time as an Eagle.

The Augusta, Ga. native teamed up with fellow student KJ Chadwick after meeting their freshman year. The duo volunteered with the 5K Foundation, a non-profit with the mission to "empower youth in underserved communities through mentorship, skill-building and strategic partnerships, while actively working to decrease gun and gang violence, fostering safe and supportive environments for their growth and success," as stated on its website.

"We love to see the kids as much as possible, to be a positive influence, it makes a difference," said Sneed.

Through growth in that organization, the pair decided to form its own mentorship program to partner with the 5K Foundation called Chadwick and Chandler. Some of their outreach events include homework tutoring, field trips to sporting events and touring colleges.

Chadwick described the overall goal as not a four-year decision, but a long-lasting impression on the youth in Durham stating, "We want to leave the community in a better place than we found."
