MEAC Announces Weekly Men’s Basketball Honors

NORFOLK, Va., Feb. 10, 2025 – South Carolina State's Omar Croskey was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week. Howard's freshman guard Blake Harper received Rookie of the Week honors, while fellow Bison Ayodele Taiwo earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Croskey (G, 6-6, Gr., Sumter, SC) aided the Bulldogs in a 2-0 week with wins over Howard and Mid-Atlantic Christian. Against the Bison, Croskey registered a season-high 27 points with eight rebounds, two assists and three steals while shooting 10-of-17 from the field, 5-of-8 from beyond the arch and 2-of-2 from the free throw line. He added 11 points, one rebound and two assists in the victory of Mid-Atlantic Christian.

Harper (G, 6-5, Fr., Washington, D.C.) tallied 35 points on the week as the Bison went 1-1. Against S.C. State, he recorded 17 points with six rebounds, four assists and one steal while shooting 10-of-11 from the free throw line. Harper followed with 18 points and four rebounds in the 82-78 win over N.C. Central.

Taiwo (F, 6-9, RJr., Lagos, Nigeria) registered an impressive 11 blocks in the victory over N.C. Central setting a career-high. He added 10 rebounds, three points and one steal on the week.

  • Toby Nnadozie (CSU) led the Eagles with 17 points, five rebounds, three assists and one steal in the 62-57 victory over Maryland Eastern Shore.
  • Martaz Robinson (DSU) recorded a double-double of 15 points and 16 rebounds, including 11 defensive boards, to pair with four assists and two steals in the win over Morgan State.
  • Kaseem Watson (DSU) led the Hornets with 30 points and seven rebounds in the 84-82 win against Morgan State.
  • Marcus Dockery (HU) registered 39 points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal in in a 1-1 week for the Bison.
  • Amarhrie Simpkins (MSU) led the Bears with 26 points in the loss to Delaware State while shooting 10-of-12 from the field. 
  • Brian Moore Jr. (NSU) posted 19 points including the near-half court buzzer beater shot to push Norfolk State past N.C. Central 81-78.
  • Kuluel Mading (NSU) collected 15 points and six rebounds in the Spartans win over N.C. Central adding one assist and one block.
  • Po'Boigh King (NCCU) averaged 15.5 points in an 0-2 week for the Eagles while adding three rebounds, four steals, one assist and one block.
  • Perry Smith Jr. (NCCU) tallied 27 points and 13 rebounds in an 0-2 week for N.C. Central.
