Howard’s Thomas Earns Top Weekly Honors

NORFOLK, Va., December 22, 2025 - Howard forward Zennia Thomas was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week presented by Wells Fargo.  Fellow Bison Ariella Henigan was named Rookie of the Week, while Norfolk State forward Ciara Bailey earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively.      

Thomas (G, 6-2, Sr., Cleveland, Ohio) totaled 32 points, 18 rebounds, three assists, and one block, helping the Bison finish 2–0. She recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds against Cincinnati, then followed with 22 points, eight rebounds and a block in the 76-64 win over St. Bonaventure. 

Henigan (Fr., 5-6, G., Chicago, Ill.) recorded 10 points, five assists, three steals and three rebounds in the 66–64 win over Cincinnati.  In the win over St. Bonaventure, she finished with 19 points on a perfect 11-for-11 from the free-throw line, adding four assists, four rebounds and three steals, posting back-to-back double-digit games for the week. 

Bailey (G, 6-2, Sr., Bristol, Pa.) finished the week with 17 total rebounds, seven blocks and 14 points, including a double-double of 10 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks at No. 21 Ohio State. 

Other Top Performers 

  • Ja’la Bannerman (MSU) scored 22 points and added two assists against Loyola Maryland. 

  • Morgan Callahan (NCCU) recorded 19 points and 10 rebounds in the 61–51 win over Queens. 

  • Dayshawna Carter (UMES) averaged 18.5 points and 5.0 rebounds, helping the Hawks finish 1-1. 

  • Jasha Clinton (NSU) scored a career-high 28 points against Campbell. 

  • Jermesha Frierson (DSU) poured in 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds against Detroit Mercy. 

  • Kalise Hill (UMES) totaled 27 points, nine assists and seven steals across two games for the Hawks. 

  • Paris McBride (CSU) scored 20 points and collected five rebounds against Georgia. 

  • Sosa Lora Patricia (CSU) averaged 9.0 points and 9.5 rebounds while adding four steals for the week. 

  • Kaliya Perry (UMES) tallied a career-high 23 points and three assists in the 90–75 win over Bloomfield College. 

  • Toni Smith (DSU) posted six points, four rebounds and four steals versus Detroit Mercy.
