NORFOLK, Va., Jan. 6, 2024 – North Carolina Central’s graduate guard Kyla Bryant was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola. Fellow Eagle Shakira Foster earned Rookie of the Week honors, while teammate Morgan Callahan earned Defensive Player of the Week honors respectively.
Bryant (G, 5-8, Gr., Salisbury, N.C.) had an impressive week for the Eagles, nearly averaging a double-double with 19.5 points, 9.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.0 steals in a 1-1 week. She led NCCU to a 77-76 victory over Furman on Monday, hitting the game-winning jumper with three seconds remaining. In Saturday's 69-66 loss to Coppin State, Bryant contributed 17 points, nine assists, and three steals. She played all 40 minutes in both games, marking the third consecutive contest where she remained on the court from start to finish.
Foster (G, 5-8, Fr., Barnesville, Ga.) tallied a career-high 24 points to lead NCCU to a 77-76 victory over Furman on Monday. Against Coppin State, Foster finished with 10 points, six rebounds, and three steals. She averaged 17.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in a 1-1 week for North Carolina Central.
Callahan (F, 6-0, Gr., Beach Park, Ill.) averaged 12.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.5 blocks over two games for the Eagles. She registered a double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds, including 11 defensive, in Saturday's 69-66 loss to Coppin State. Callahan led the MEAC in total rebounds (17) and blocks (3) during the first week of conference play.

- Zennia Thomas (HU) recorded a double-double in the win over Delaware State with 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Bison.
- Saniyah King (HU) tallied 10 points and nine assists in the win over Delaware State.
- Diamond Johnson (NSU) contributed 21 points, seven rebounds, three steals and three assists while shooting 64.2% from the field in the win over UMES.
- Kierra Wheeler (NSU) notched her 30th career double-double in the Spartans first conference victory against UMES, recording 19 points, 11 rebounds and adding six steals.
- Angie Juste-Jean (SCSU) led the Bulldogs with 25 points and seven rebounds in a 55-54 loss to Morgan State.
