NORFOLK, Va., Jan. 6, 2025 – Howard’s freshman guard Blake Harper was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player and Rookie of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola.
Norfolk State graduate guard Brian Moore Jr. earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively.
Harper (G, 6-5, Fr., Washington, D.C.) tied his career-high of 34 points to lead the Bison to a 100-94 victory over Delaware State in the MEAC conference opener. He added six rebounds, two assists and one steal while knocking back 10-of-12 shots from the field, including 3-of-4 from three-point land and a perfect 11-for-11 from the charity stripe. Against Yale, Harper contributed 16 points with six rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block. He averaged 25.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals for the Bison.
Moore Jr. (G, 6-2, 185, Gr., Harlem, N.Y.) registered 22 points, seven defensive rebounds, four assists, four blocks and three steals in the Spartans victory against Maryland Eastern Shore. Moore Jr. added 18 points and five rebounds in the 67-52 loss to No. 1 Tennessee.

- Julius Ellerbe III (CSU) led the Eagles with 16 points, eight rebounds and one assist in Coppin State’s victory over North Carolina Central.
- Jonathan Dunn (CSU) collected eight points, seven rebounds, two steals, one block and one assist in a 1-0 week for Coppin State.
- Floyd Rideau (NCCU) averaged 16.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals in an 1-1 week for the Eagles.
- Dionte Johnson (NCCU) averaged 4.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 10.5 assists and 4.5 steals in an 1-1 week for the Eagles, including 16 assists in NCCU’s win over NAIA St. Andrew’s.
- Drayton Jones (SCSU) led the Bulldogs with 20 points in an 86-72 win over Morgan State. He added six rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal.
- Omar Croskey (SCSU) registered 17 points with six rebounds, two assists and three steals in the win over Morgan State.
