BALTIMORE, MD—
Three Bulldogs scored in double figures as South Carolina State capture its Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) opener win over Morgan State, 86-72, Saturday (Jan.4) inside Hill Field House.

Sophomore forward Drayton Jones had a phenomenal day tossing in team-high 20 points and grabbing six (6) rebounds along with a block and a steal in 20 minutes of play.

Senior forward Davion Everett had an extra lift in the frontcourt with 18 points and a team-high eight (8) rebounds, while graduate guard Omar Croskey controlled, he backcourt with 17 points, six (6) rebounds, three (3) steals in the win.

Norfolk State def. Maryland Eastern Shore - 81-59

NORFOLK, Va. –
The defending MEAC regular season champion started off conference play with authority, as the Norfolk State men's basketball team used a well-rounded performance to cruise past Maryland Eastern Shore 81-50 on Saturday evening at Echols Hall.
 
Brian Moore Jr. led the Spartans with 22 points and seven rebounds, adding three steals and a career-high four blocks. NSU received several strong performances from its bench, including 14 points from Chris Fields Jr. and 10 points and six assists from Jaylani Darden.
 
Jalen Myers scored the home team's first two baskets of the day, before Moore knocked down a 3-pointer. Kuluel Mading tallied six straight points for the Spartans, including a pair of dunks, racing Norfolk State out to a 16-4 lead.

Coppin State def. North Carolina Central - 63-61

BALTIMORE –
Julius Ellerbe III led three Coppin State men's basketball players in double figures with 16 points as CSU prevailed over NC Central, 63-61, on Saturday afternoon in the MEAC opener for both teams at PEC Arena. Coppin now stands at 2-13 overall while Central fell to 7-11.

  • Ellerbe hit 4-of-8 shots from the floor with a pair of threes and 6-of-8 from the line to lead the Navy & Gold in scoring.  He also had a game-high eight rebounds.
  • Camaren Sparrow matched a career-high with 14 points, burying four 3-pointers to go with five assists which were also career bests.
  • Toby Nnadozie added 11 points while matching Sparrow with five assists and he was followed by Peter Oduro and Jonathan Dunn with eight points apiece, and Khali Horton with six.
  • Coppin's 16 assists on 20 made baskets was a season-best, helping them to victory despite being narrowly outshot, 43.4% to 42.6%.

Howard def. Delaware State - 100-94

WASHINGTON, DC -
The Howard Bison opened MEAC play with a 100-94 victory over the Hornets of Delaware State in a rematch of the 2024 MEAC Championship game. 

Rookie Blake Harper led all players with 34 points shooting 10-of-12 from the field and a perfect 11-of-11 from the charity stripe. 

Cameron Shockley-Okeke added 24 points for the Bison while Marcus Dockery contributed 19.

A trio of Hornets scored 20+ points led by Martaz Robinson with 28 points including 15 from the free throw line. Robert Smith added 27 points while Kaseem Watson tallied 22 points.
