Delaware State Softball Announces 2025 Season Schedule

Dover, DE: The full schedule for the upcoming Delaware State University Softball season was released on Monday, January 27th. This season will be the fourth for Head Coach Daniel Stockdale at Delaware State University as the team is coming off a 14-28 regular season and a 5-16 conference record. 

As the Hornets gear up for the 2025 softball season, excitement is building around the program.

Head coach Stockdale enters the season with a talented roster that blends experienced upperclassmen with promising newcomers."The start of a new season always brings excitement and expectations. Last season didn't end the way we hoped. We learned from it, grew during the offseason, worked hard, set goals, and are now positioned to break through to the MEAC tournament this season. The athletes are excited to get things started!" said Coach Stockdale. After a competitive season last year, Delaware State is looking to take the next step in non-conference and MEAC play. The 2025 schedule offers a mix of challenging matchups, both at home and on the road.

Delaware State opens the 2025 campaign with a strong home stretch. The Hornets will host Virginia Union University for a doubleheader on February 8th, followed by another doubleheader versus Manhattan University on February 9th. The team will continue their home stand against Siena College on February 15th for a doubleheader, followed by a 3-game match-up against Bucknell University on February 22nd and 23rd. 

After an exciting home-opening stretch, Delaware State will hit the road from February 28th to March 2nd to face off against the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN.

Returning home, the Hornets will host St. Peters for a doubleheader on March 4th. Followed with a trip to Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA, for a March 5th doubleheader contest. Delaware State will then travel to New York for a 2-game match-up against Wagner University on March 8th, with a single game on March 9th. The Hornets will return home to close out non-conference play and face Chestnut Hill College for a doubleheader on March 12th.

The Hornets will head to Baltimore, MD, for a MEAC match-up against Morgan State on March 15th and 16th. The team will then return to their home field for two more contests: a single game against Colgate on March 20th and a series against Coppin State University on March 22nd and 23rd.

March ends with a road series as the Hornets take on Lincoln University in a doubleheader on March 26th. Then returning home, they will play Norfolk State University in a series with a doubleheader on March 29th and a single game on March 30th. 

Delaware State then kicks off April on the road in a contest against Towson University on April 1st, the Hornets return home with a doubleheader against Bowie State on April 2nd.

Continuing in early April, the Hornets face off against Howard University on the road in Washington, D.C., for two games on April 5th and a single game on April 6th. The team will then travel to Newark, DE, on April 9th for a doubleheader against Route 1 Rivals, The University of Delaware. Hornets will face off against South Carolina State University in a doubleheader on April 12th, followed by a single game on April 13th in Orangeburg, SC. 

Returning home for the final stretch, Delaware State will host North Carolina Central University for a 3-game series on April 18th and 19th. The regular season wraps up with a series against Maryland Eastern Shore on April 26th and 27th.
