Norfolk State def. Howard - 92-75

NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State regained its place atop the MEAC standings on Saturday, defeating Howard 92-75 behind a 30-point performance from graduate guard Brian Moore Jr.
 
Moore shot 11-of-18 from the floor and 8-of-8 from the free throw line, surpassing the 30-point mark for the third time this season. Christian Ingstallied 19 points, four rebounds and four assists, while Jalen Myers logged 15 points and a team-best eight rebounds.
 
Norfolk State (14-8, 4-1 MEAC) shot a perfect 21-of-21 from the free throw line, marking the first time in program history that the Spartans have made 100 percent of their free throw attempts (min. 15) in a single game.
 
Cameron Shockley-Okeke led Howard (8-12, 3-1) with 19 points, knocking down four 3-pointers.

DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University men's basketball team hosted South Carolina State University on Saturday evening, winning 82-77 in a close game at McDougald-McLendon Arena.

Junior Po'Boigh King finished with a game-high 25 points and six rebounds. King went 11-of-13 from the charity stripe and 6-of-10 from the field. 

Senior Keishon Porter and junior Perry Smith Jr. also finished in double figures scoring 17 and 16, respectively. 

NCCU (10-12, 3-2 MEAC) earned its tenth win of the season and has now won three consecutive Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference games. 

Head coach LeVelle Moton knew coming into the matchup that SC State would present a tough bout.

Delaware State def. Maryland Eastern Shore - 73-66

PRINCESS ANNE, MD --Kaseem Watson scored 21 points to help lead the Delaware State men's basketball team past the Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawks 73-66 on the road Saturday.

The Hornets (10-10, 2-3) had four players score in double figures, led by Watson, who had 21 points and six rebounds. Muneer Newton tacked on 13 points and nine rebounds and Martaz Robinson helped out with 13 points and two steals.

Led by Newton's five offensive rebounds, Delaware State did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 14 boards that resulted in 18 second chance points.

The Delaware State defense was a problem in Saturday's game, forcing 14 Maryland-Eastern Shore turnovers. Those takeaways turned into 15 points on the offensive end of the floor. Robinson led the way individually for the Hornets with two steals.

Morgan State def. Coppin State - 80-64

Will Thomas scored a game-high 21 points to lead Morgan State to a 80-64 win against crosstown rival Coppin State on Saturday afternoon before a packed crowd at Hill Field House.

OPENING TIP

  • Thomas shot 8-for-15 from the field, including 4-for-4 from the charity stripe and had five rebounds in 32 minutes.
  • Kameron Hobbs scored 20 points (7-17 FG) with three boards and three assists in 33 minutes. Amahrie Simpkins added 15 points in the first half, while Daniel Akitoby notched 10 rebounds with six points and two blocked shots.
  • The Eagles had four players in double-figures. Khali Horton led the way with 15 points (6-16 FG) in 33 minutes. Peter Oduro added a double-double by recording 13 points and  a game-high 11 rebounds. Toby Nnadozie chipped in 11 points and Julius Ellerbe had 10 points with four rebounds.
