NORFOLK, Va. --- The Norfolk State women's basketball team drained a school record-breaking 18 3-pointers on its way to a 123-51 victory against Virginia-Lynchburg at Echols Hall on Saturday afternoon.
 
Sophomore guard Da'Brya Clark set a career-high with 25 points, adding eight steals, eight assists, three rebounds, and one block to her totals. Sophomore guard Anjanae Richardson also set a career-high, scoring 23 points while accumulating six assists and four steals on the day.
 
Diamond Johnson (16), Niya Fields (14), Da'naijah Williams (13), Kierra Wheeler (11), and Jenesis Hill (10) all scored in double-figures for NSU in the win.
 
The scoring barrage came from all across the NSU lineup, with seven Spartans reaching double figures. Norfolk State's 58.5 percent field goal percentage ranks as the fifth-best in program history.
 
Norfolk State didn't hold back in the game's early stages, capping off a 14-2 run with a Richardson layup to open the contest. Back-to-back 3-pointers from Williams and Richardson gave the Spartans an 18-point lead with 2:23 left to play in the first quarter. Fields and Richardson scored a pair of 3-pointers, putting the finishing touches on seven-made 3-pointers in the first quarter. 
 
The Spartans continued to drain shots from downtown, opening the second quarter with three straight 3-pointers. Hill got to the rim, following a steal from Clark to lead to a basket, extending the Spartans' advantage. NSU continued to fire on all cylinders heading into halftime with Clark making back-to-back layups before the end of the half.
 
NSU opened the second half with the same energy as the first half, tying the school record for most 3-pointers in a game as Makoye Diawara drained one with 7:27 left in the third quarter. Clark broke the record three minutes later with a dish from Johnson leading to a wide-open shot. Williams put the finishing touches on the third quarter with a steal and layup before time expired.
 
Virginia-Lynchburg saw a scoring spark to open the fourth quarter, scoring the first seven points. Hill picked off the Dragons with 6:02 left in the game and followed it up with a fastbreak layup. The Spartans ended the game on a 17-4 run to take down the Dragons 123-51 to end their 2024-25 non-conference slate.
