NORFOLK, Va., Jan. 13, 2025 – Morgan State’s senior guard Kameron Hobbs was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola.
Howard freshman Blake Harper earned Rookie of the Week honors, while
Morgan State senior forward Daniel Akitoby earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively.
Hobbs (G, 5-10, RSr., Stockbridge, Ga.) registered a career-high 40 points in a double-overtime 102-98 win over North Carolina Central. He added seven rebounds and one assist while shooting 54.2 percent (13-of-24) from the field and an impressive 84.6 percent (11-of-13) from the free throw line. Hobbs followed with a 24-point performance at Howard where he added two steals and two rebounds for the Bears. On the week, Hobbs averaged 32 .0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals with a 78.9 free throw shooting percentage
Harper (G, 6-5, Fr., Washington, D.C.) tallied 23 points to aide the Bison to a 100-95 victory over Morgan State. He added seven rebounds and six assists while knocking back 7-of-12 shots from the field and 8-for-11 from the charity stripe.
Akitoby (F, 6-9, 230, Sr., Fairfax, Va.) registered 10 rebounds, six blocks and three steals in the Bears double-overtime victory over North Carolina Central. Akitoby added 17 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks in the 100-95 loss to Howard.
Other Top Performers
- Toby Nnadozie (CSU) put together back-to-back 15 point games for the Eagles with two rebounds and three assists against both S.C. State and Norfolk State.
- Kaseem Watson (DSU) totaled 29 points with six rebounds, two assists and one steal in a 1-1 week for the Hornets.
- Ponce James (DSU) collected 16 points, five rebounds and two assists through two games for Delaware State.
- Marcus Dockery (HU) led the Bison with 25 points along with four rebounds, three assists and one steal in a 100-95 victory of Morgan State.
- Jalen Myers (NSU) put up back-to-back 20-point games for the Spartans who collected wins over Delaware State and Coppin State. He added 17 rebounds, six assists and four steals on the week.
- Po’Boigh King (NCCU) averaged 19.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals in an 1-1 week for the Eagles.
- Isaac Parson (NCCU) averaged 16.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.0 steals in an 1-1 week for the Eagles.
- Omar Croskey (SCSU) scored 18 points in consecutive games, 36 total, with six total rebounds, one assist and five steals in a 1-1 week for the Bulldogs.
