Howard def. Morgan State - 100-95

WASHINGTON, DC - Marcus Dockery and Blake Harper combined for 48 points to lead the Howard Bison men's basketball team to an 100-95 victory against Beltway rival Morgan State on Saturday afternoon at Burr Gymnasium.


OPENING TIP

  • Dockery connected on 9-of-15 from the field, including 3-for-5 from three-point territory   and added four rebounds and three assists in 39 minutes.
  • Howard's freshman standout Blake Harper filled the statsheet with 23 points (7-12 FG), seven rebounds and six assists in 31 minutes. Anwar Gill added 14 points and six assists in 38 minutes.
  • The Bears had four players in double-fugures. Kameron Hobbs and Will Thomas recorded 24 points apiece. Hobbs was 4-for-9 from beyond the arc and Thomas shot 40 percent (8-20 FG) from the floor and grabbed five boards, three assists and three steals.

Norfolk State def. Coppin State - 92-69

NORFOLK, Va. – 
Norfolk State guard Christian Ings pulled out all the theatrics in his return from the flu on Saturday, scoring 21 points to lead the Spartans to a 92-69 blowout win over Coppin State.
 
Brian Moore Jr. added 19 points for Norfolk State (12-7, 3-0 MEAC) on a 7-of-7 shooting day, while Jalen Myers tallied 18 points and eight rebounds. NSU shot 61.8 percent from the floor against the Eagles (2-15, 1-2), the team's most efficient offensive performance of the season.
 
Ings scored five of Norfolk State's first seven points, hitting a tough layup and a 3-pointer. The Spartans jumped out to a quick 9-2 lead, stifling the Eagles with a strong defensive effort.

Delaware State def. South Carolina State - 76-75

Orangeburg, SC --Kaseem Watson hit a buzzer-beating shot as time expired to lead the Delaware State men's basketball team past the South Carolina State Bulldogs 76-75 on the road Saturday.

The Hornets (8-9, 1-2) had three players score in double figures, led by Watson, who had 23 points. Robert Smith tacked on 21 points and Ponce Jameshelped out with 16 points off the bench.

The Delaware State offense was very productive from beyond the arc, making eight threes on 13 attempts. Smith was the most prolific shooter for the Hornets, draining five treys in the contest.

N. C. Central def. Md. Eastern Shore - 88-69 

DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University men's basketball team bounced back after Tuesday's double-overtime heartbreak at Morgan State defeating the University of Maryland Eastern Shore 88-69 in McDougald-McLendon Arena on Saturday evening. 

Senior guard Keishon Porter and junior guard Po'Boigh King both finished with 23 points for game-highs. The duo had five and four rebounds, respectively.

Redshirt senior Isaac Parson also joined the pair in double figures with 13 points along with five assists.
